Speaking at Women in Consumer Finance challenged Nia Rose to silence self-limiting beliefs and embrace the uncomfortable. Learn how the experience transformed her confidence and self-perception below.
“When we challenge who we think we are and what we think we can do, all these good benefits come that we may not have ever anticipated.”
That’s exactly what Nia Rose did when she agreed to speak at Women in Consumer Finance 2023. The thought of getting on stage and being the focus of 400 pairs of eyes was daunting at first. She never considered herself a speaker before.
“We all have our own narratives about who we are and what we can do. Saying yes to speaking at Women in Consumer Finance was a challenge that made me question who I thought I was and what I thought I was capable of.”
Instead of shying away, she silenced her self-limiting beliefs and embraced the uncomfortable. It was scary, but the results were worth it. Those 400 pairs of eyes she was so afraid of turned out to belong to supportive women who cheered her on as she took her rightful place in the spotlight.
“Once I got on stage, I felt like I was speaking to friends. There was an outpouring of love immediately, the days after, and then months afterward. And it led to more opportunities for me to speak even though I didn’t previously see myself as a public speaker.”
Speaking at WCF transformed Nia from someone who was hesitant to share into someone who proudly takes the mic and owns her voice.
This story isn’t an outlier. WCF speakers consistently report the transformative impact taking the stage has on their personal and professional confidence, especially when they’re initially intimidated like Nia was.
